Liberated Fellowship ELIGIBILITY

What are we looking for in a LiberatED fellow?

Current educators who:
  • are from New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont); 
  • desire to transform their teaching practice to support students’ holistic development and mental health through SEL that centers racial justice and healing;
  • are on a journey to understand the effects of race and privilege on their identity formation and how their identity shapes their leadership and teaching;
  • have demonstrated experience working in racial and social justice efforts; 
  • are open to honest reflection and dialogue about their leadership, teaching, and activism; and, 
  • are ready to co-build and engage in a community of care with other educators.

We welcome classroom teachers, guidance counselors, school leaders, deans, paraprofessionals, and any other professionals working within school systems to apply.

Important Dates

  • Application due date: July 28th, 2023 (Applications for 2023-24 are now closed)
  • Notification of fellowship results: August 2023
  • See fellowship retreat and convening dates under Commitment

COMMITMENT

Fellows are expected to be available for all program sessions. During the fellowship, fellows design and implement a passion project in their classroom and/or school/district context, fellows are expected to complete the associated readings (1-2 articles per session), and share feedback through ongoing surveys or interviews.

THROUGH LIBERATED’S FUNDRAISING EFFORTS, WE ARE ABLE TO OFFER THE LIBERATED FELLOWSHIP AT NO COST TO FELLOWS. FELLOWS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE IN-PERSON RETREAT IN STAMFORD, CT.
